The Monkees, the sitcom The Monkees debuted, hold on, yes, on American television.

Although canceled after two seasons, the show enjoyed enduring popularity, popularity in syndication, backed by huge songs like I'm a Believer.

And also, uh, Neil Diamond wrote Clarks-

And by the way, it is I'm a Believer.

Damn.

And I think that really surprises people in the show too when we do a little feature on the Brill Building and we show some of the songs that Neil wrote.

I certainly didn't know that he wrote I'm a Believer or that he wrote Red Red Wine.

I had no idea that he was behind some of those other iconic songs that were hits for the Monkees and Lulu.

So, yeah, incredible sort of time period to be capturing in the show.

After an encounter, Donkey forms an interest with Shrek and follows him home along with a lot of fairytale creatures who were kicked out and sent to Shrek's swamp by Lord Farquaad who hates fairytale creatures.

now shrek is stuck with donkey in a deal with lord farquaad to arrest you princess fiona from a castle guarded from a fire breathing dragon the two set on a quest to rescue her at first shrek and fiona hate each other and judge each other just by their appearances but slowly form a bond that turns into love but this goes against every fair tale the two know they know this isn't what's supposed to happen shrek is supposed to be here hated and unwanted and fiona is meant to be in a big castle drinking pina coladas but this doesn't but they don't care realizing shrek goes back to declare his love for fiona at her wedding where it's revealed that fiona is actually an ogre much to shrek's surprise even if there were many signs which include liking a rat rotisserie the two live happily ever after and donkey even sings a cover of i'm a believer as the film cuts to credits oh so before we get into the movie first we have to talk about the movie the company that made the movie the production company dreamworks and i'm sure a lot of people know who dreamworks are you know they made obviously shrek they made kung fu panda shark tale the madagascar series a bunch of movies and some are hit or misses but and but uh, they're a good company, I enjoy them, a lot of their movies are actually really nostalgic to me, I grew up watching a lot of their movies, and still do, I mean, Over the Hedge is one of the greatest movies of all time, if you haven't watched it, check it out, uh, and, yeah, DreamWorks was founded by Steven Spielberg, actually, out of all people, he was one of the, you know, the main people that, um, founded the company, along with David, uh, hopefully I'm saying his last name, David Geffen, and Jeffrey Katzenberg, who was previously the chairman of Disney's from 1984 to 1994, which I think, I meant 1984 to 1994, actually, that's weird, yeah, he was a chairman, and notoriously made and started the Disney Renaissance, which, that alone is a different thing for a different episode, but, you know, the Disney Renaissance, that movie's that time period from the, from 88 to, like, 99, I'm pretty sure, of Disney just putting out, you know, big box office movies hit like hit after hit after hit which include the little mermaid beauty and the beast and aladdin just to name a few and he was one of the ones that started it he really um pushed it and sometimes he would really stick his nose when where did it belong at times which included i forget but like i'm there's this other this actual disney um owner at the time who uh unfortunately died in a helicopter crash and jeffrey katzenberg really wanted that position after he died which is kind of a dick move on his part him doing that like not even that that far apart from the ceo's death So he got mad, he left, and along with Steven Spielberg and David

Geffen, hopefully I'm saying his last name

right, they formed Disney, and that's the start of the company.

And... that changed everything, that really changed the movie, that changed the way people use songs in kids movies, I mean, now, obviously, you get the freaking minions using whatever song that's popular at the moment, and, you know, it's whatever, the Mario movie that just uses the worst 80s music you could ever think of, it's more normal now to have pop songs in kids movies, but at the time, again, you didn't really see that, and people really love that, I mean, it's incredible, but that again i mean you get other songs like my beloved monster by the eels uh another great song i'm on my way which was a previously older song bad agitation again another older song best years of my life by baha men another incredible song and the end credits hallelujah and uh others uh you belong to me which is a little

very underrated one on the soundtrack

but of course I'm a believer.

And All Star are one of the bigger ones.
