I’ll Be Around

With Tom Bell as their mentor, producing and sometimes songwriting, they would hit the top 40 15 times between 1972 and 1980.

Songs like I'll Be Around, Then Came You, The Rover Bandman were like a soundtrack of the 70s.

However, conflict and egos began emerging in the group when Philippe Wynne wanted the group's name changed to Philippe Wynne and the Spinners.

When this was not done, Wynne, of course, left the group in January of 77 and was replaced by John Edwards.

Whenever you need me, I'll be there.

I'll be around.

I knew just what to say.

Now I found out today that all the words had slipped away.

Whenever you want me, I'll be there.

Whenever you need me, I'll be there.

I'll be around.

Yeah.

And in the background, this one's just been reissued.

Shout to the guys at Sounds of the Universe in Soho for reissuing the Sound Dimension, I'll Be Around.

Original Detroit Spinners track, of course.

Studio One business from '72 and just reissued on a 7, and you're hearing the dub version, B side.

And these are the songs you guys were voting on over there on Facebook, Threads, and Instagram.

We had The Spinners with I'll Be Around.

We had Cyndi Lauper with True Colors.

We had Kenny Loggins and Stevie Nicks, Whenever I Call You Friend.

I see myself within your eyes and that's all I need to show me why everything I do always takes me home to you ever and ever.

I can't believe I missed that one.

The spinners I'll be around whenever you call me.

I'll be there whenever you want me I'll be there whenever you need me.
