I Feel for You

She's a music icon, a vocal powerhouse whose range encompasses folk, soul, disco, jazz, pop, and beyond.

An 11-time Grammy winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame alumnus, her career has spanned six consecutive decades and given us classics, including "I'm Every Woman," "Ain't Nobody," and "I Feel for You." She's sold an estimated 70 million records and collaborated with all-time greats, including Stevie Wonder, Miles Davis, Joni Mitchell, and Prince.

She grew up in Chicago in an artistic family surrounded by music.

At 13, she took the Yoruba name Chaka, and by her late teens, she joined the band Rufus, whose runaway success paved the way for her breakout as a solo artist.

By the mid-'80s, you're a huge star.

You know, I Feel for You, Through the Fire, massive hits.

Yeah.

So I ended up co-writing a song with Marlon Jackson for Janet, which is on the album before the huge one.

And I co-wrote a song with Chaka Khan on the album after I Feel For You.

So I did it, but I never took the world, I didn't buy a swimming pool or anything with my royalties.

Shaka Cans' I Feel For You, that time in the R&B category, and Whitney Houston's Saving All My Love For You, in the main category, but it left me at one of my favourite tracks of my youth.
