Another point that came up was the role for HIPEC at the time of disease recurrence or following a secondary surgical cytoreduction.

Again, multiple trials were reviewed, and the data is conflicting on the potential benefits of HIPEC.

The consensus statement is that HIPEC should not be recommended outside of experienced clinical centers or in a clinical trial setting, at least at this point in time.
