Hurricane David

I'm from Miami.

I've been through Hurricane David, Wilma.

Uh, I served in Hurricane Katrina aftermath.

Um, I was in a direct path of Hurricane Ian back in tw-2022.

Well, way, way back in 1979, a hurricane was blowing off the shores of Miami.

It was called Hurricane David.

It was a pretty severe, it was a Category 5 hurricane.

It had already blown through the Caribbean in that part of the world.

But since then, we know better.

Did you hear what I said? Hugo was the strongest hurricane to strike the Northeastern Caribbean since Hurricane David in 1979.

And the strongest to make landfall on the continental U.S. since Hurricane Camille in 1969. the scale of hurricane impacts led to the retirement of the name Hugo from the Atlantic tropical cyclone Nameless being replaced by Humberto for the 1995 hurricane season, which ironically also brought significant damage to the Virgin Islands, mostly St. Thomas and St. John with Hurricane Marilyn that year.
