Hurling

So the President has charged us with that, looking at the game of hurling.

What can we tweak? What areas can we improve? So we've done a huge analysis overall.

As you said there, I suppose the big problem with Hurling is the gulfing class between the Munster Championship and the Leinster Championship.

Yeah, that's an issue.

But Munster, since the Round Robin was brought in in 2018, it was my first year as manager of the Cork Hurling Team, the Munster counties have embraced it and it's really, really competitive.

And you couldn't say any year what team is coming out of Munster.

You couldn't determine what team is coming out.

But we're also stressing here that there's a team of officials there.

So he started me very early on.

But yeah, we're very much a big Comoghie and Hurling family and all the cousins are the same.

So we would have started very young with Thomas there.

And then going into County, you have won Underage and Senior All-Ireland Medals with.

think to be fair to the Hurling development group, not sure the official title, I think The remit they were given and the subsequent information that they've gotten back from the surveys that they put out there earlier in the year, I think there is a sense that there isn't as much broken and hurling as there was in football.

So the need to be as radical is probably not as acute.

At the same time, I thought it was lacking in a little bit of an imagination.

to give an input on Hurling.

I have pleaded not to intercontinental senior or anything like that.

Yeah, yeah.

Do you want to hop in there, Jimmy? Like, I mean, you have seen many Meade, Hurling teams over the years.

Mickey Cole, interesting appointment.

Absolutely, Tom, you know, and, you know, whether he was, he was certainly one of the greatest Mead hurlers that I ever saw anyway.

Winning the Christie Ring Cup is not a problem.

Has been for the last two years.

But you could say Mead Hurling has been in transition for the last couple of years.

So what's the expectations of Mickey Cole? Because there's no point winning the Christie Ring Cup and coming straight back down from Joe McDonagh anymore.

And one of the proposals was that there would be one membership, that there would be one club.

And I know in some places there is only one club for Camogie and Hurling, let's say.

But if you change the rules, it's a basic thing.

The GA was founded in the 1880s to have one set of rules rather than the multiple rules that existed.

They had to forfeit home advantage.

It had to be played in Dublin, played in Grange Gorman the same day on a Sunday morning.

you know and a lot of clubs you know okay we're lucky here I suppose because the building we're here Scariff whether it's Hurling or the Camogie they're quite they work close together don't they they work very well together and I know okay Senior games, whether it is hurling or football, at the top level, the All-Ireland Senior Football Final, the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final, they're the big money spinners, you know.

But then what about the minor? That's not as big a money spinner, football for the men.
