All in all, I think Hunt for the Wilderpeople is a great movie.

anybody about Sam Neill, they're going to be like, oh, like in Jurassic Park.

So I feel like that's a good one to know because I think that's one of his most iconic roles.

I'm so excited.

And then Sam came and you're like, oh, he's going to lend like a gravitas to whatever.

Like, arguably, I think Hunt for the Wilder People is one of my favorite roles of his.

I binged your Sam Neill movie podcast back to back yesterday.

I really enjoyed your 51 minute review of Hunt for the Wind of Wilderpeople.

I just read ahead.

Of which some eight minutes was spent actually talking about the movie and the rest of the time was spent reading out negligent discharge.

But at least there are three more movies yet to come out in which he plays some part.

So on to my discharge.

You were talking about Taika Waititi, the director of Hunt for the Wilderpeople, and Andrew mentioned he'd seen Thor Ragnarok, which Taika also directed.

Yes, I do remember that.

Time to review the movie Hunt for the Wilder People from 2016.

In the film Hunt for the Wilderpeople, directed by Taika Waititi, we are taken on a journey through the lush and untamed New Zealand bush, where the beauty of nature serves as both a backdrop and a character in its own right.

The story follows Ricky Baker, played by Julian Dennison, a rebellious city kid who has been shuffled through the foster care system, and his reluctant foster uncle, Hector, portrayed by Sam Neill.

After the sudden death of Bella, played by Rima Tiwiata, Ricky's kind-hearted foster mother Ricky and Hector find themselves on the run from the authorities, sparking a nationwide manhunt.

The other thing we did yesterday is we went to the cinema to rest.

And we watched Hunt for the Wilder People at the cinema yesterday.

And we've seen it before.

It's the 10-year anniversary.

I, I just enjoy him more as this grumpy scientist who's thrown into these situations, and I think the fact that he's with the family rather than fellow scientists and people who he can, you know, bounce ideas off and things, he's just with your general person on the street and just trying to keep these people alive and himself alive, and I think he leans into that comedy that Sam Neill can do quite well, that, that wryness, that dry sense of humor, that s- slightly eye-rolly kind of, "Why am I back here again?" And I think given the script by, that was, you know, a script that was tinkered with by, uh, Alexander Payne and Jim Taylor, I think I'd have loved to have seen him in a full Alexander Payne film.

I think, I think a bit like he is with Taika Waititi a bit later with the Hunt for the Wilder People, I think that could've been a really good trajectory for him after JP3.

Yeah, I mean, the, the, the lost Jim Taylor, Alexander Payne, Sam Neill project, so to speak-

That, well, again, Possession would be interesting for people to seek out, I think.

We mentioned Hunt for the Wilder People, definitely, if people haven't seen that, but that is much more recent.

I think you also touched on In the Mouth of Madness.

And then shortly after that, we're going to catch up with Luke Buddha, who you all will know from the Phoenix Foundation and some of you from Monica, which is like the Phoenix Foundation's movie score band.

And they, of course, made the score for Hunt for the Wilderpeople, which has just turned 10, 10-year anniversary, and to celebrate the score, the soundtrack is being released on vinyl for the first time.

So we're going to chat with Luke a little bit about what feels special about that.

Obviously, we'll be close to a lot of people's hearts at the moment with Sam Neill's passing.

We're going to listen to this track from Felix Bird and then shortly we're going to give away a copy of the new Red Fountain album on CD because it's our Kopai Poro Tene Wiki album of the week.
