and a week prior to her developing symptoms, both her husband and infant son were sick as well.

The interesting part is that when the first LP was done, it returned positive for HHV-6, which did not really make sense because she was not presenting with a limbic encephalitis.

And although she was immunocompromised, she was not profoundly immunocompromised because we primarily see reactivation of HHV-6 cause limbic encephalitis in patients that are about 30 days from having received a hematopoietic stem cell transplant.

So that result did not make sense, which sort of pushed us to repeat NLP.

And one of the things that we were really worried about with infection is that the patient had enterovirus.

And when we repeated testing, the enterovirus PCR came back positive and we were able to make the diagnosis of enteroviral rhomboencephalitis.

One of the main things to know about HHV-6 is that, like other herpes viruses, it can establish latent infections in organs and white blood cells.

And you can have low-level, non-pathogenic reactivation of the virus, especially if you have another infection or some other inflammatory disorder.

She had serum and CSF autoimmune encephalitis panels, which were negative.

But her CSF meningitis encephalitis panel was although it showed a negative enterovirus that come back positive for HHV-6.

Oh, wow.

Interesting.

HHV-6 was not even on our differential diagnosis.

Is that it? I mean, can we conclude that she has HHV-6?

So that's the important point.

In neurology and in medicine in general, we don't usually treat lab results.

I want to ask about long COVID.

Are you seeing, we are seeing, I don't know what we're going to do, right? We were primed because our docs were in the ME-CFS space where we have, you know, Epstein-Barr virus, sometimes CMV, HHV-6.

We were primed to look at cause where the immune system responded and we had a dysregulation in the immune system after.

But are you getting flooded? I mean, like it's, I don't know what we're going to do.

So I want to kind of just briefly go through all four of these viruses to tell you some of the other research I found as the potential remedy.

Let's start with the HHV-6, the herpes virus, okay? Because there's like 245 different herpes viruses that This one is more common.

It can be other ones, but they're not as common.

But I found a really good remedy for this.

It tells us that the immune system and the body in general is under a great amount of stress.

I also look at HHV-6 as HHV-6 has a strong affinity for nervous system tissue where it can remain latent for decades.

And reactivation has been linked to multiple sclerosis, chronic encephalitis, chronic fatigue syndrome, and parts like dysautonomia.

And much like EBV, HHV-6 often persists silently, only reemerging under stress or immune suppression from something else.

And so I consider HHV-6 as a part of a broader viral reactivation picture that's contributing to destabilizing immunity, not as a causative agent itself.

cytomatic megalovirus as well is something I always test for.

I test for it because CMV is notorious for contributing to immune exhaustion, gradually wearing out T-cell defenses, amplifying inflammation and eroding immune tolerance.

So if you've had mono, that's important.

HSV, HHV-6, this drives fatigue, brain fog, autoimmune flares.

These are almost never tested.

Histamine, mast cell activation, MCAS.

In one research they did... that had this condition, and they opened it up and they found these viruses that apparently make their home out of your ganglion, which is kind of a nerve bundle, where the trigeminal nerve originates from.

So there were four primary viruses that they talked about, with the most common one being a herpes virus, HHV6.

The next one being shingles, the varicella zoster, which is like the chicken pox virus.

The next one is the Epstein-Barr virus, and then you also have the cytomegaloviruses.

They've got Lyme and Barton, oftentimes Chlamydia, and Pneumonia, and others, Mycoplasma species.

They've got reactivated viruses from long COVID, their EBV and their HHV6 reactivates with T cell exhaustion.

They've got parasites, toxo as well as Babesia.

They get fungal overgrowth in their gut with candida, giving them blood sugar swings.

Damn, that's The Lancet saying that.

This is a study just showing that it's interesting, like, HHV6 can infect the thyroid, but it's positive in the thyroid, but the, but the-- in the periphery, it doesn't even turn up positive.

So causing a lot of inflammation.

But when you look at obese children, actually even obese adults, incidence of Hashimoto's in obese children is so much higher than healthy lean children.
