Human geography

I'm part of a pattern.

4.5 million people in the United States have taken AP Human Geography.

Last year alone, it was around 310,000 students, and most of them will never have geography anywhere in their job titles.

but they are thinking spatially.

But let's talk a little bit about just how people get into geography and how people learn it.

And I think that's one thing that when we talked earlier, just kind of sharing a little bit more about the stories of how we both came into it.

But one fact that you shared with me that I found really interesting was that there's 4.5 million people today that have taken a course called AP human geography.

And what's really cool about that, I think, is that it's, you know, I looked at the practice test before this and it's something that, you know, there's pieces that I remember and I could kind of recall I didn't take the course when I was in high school because I'm a little bit older now.

Let me just quickly introduce you to Derek.

Dr. Derek Ruse is an Academy Research Fellow in Human Geography.

He is also the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Space and Policy.

Derek's a human geographer whose research sits at the intersection of urban, political and cultural geography.
