Hudson Garoni

Made a big way to winning the game.

Brady Sharp going to Hudson-Garoni was outstanding because what this allowed, Panda, was Brady to clamp down on Garoni.

He got two free kicks that resulted in goals and a bit of a junk time one late in the game.

But Brady Sharp clamping down on Hudson-Garoni allowed Nick Ferguson to zone off a little bit more and sit in the hole a lot more.

It's very obvious.

Hudson-Garoni is not a one-man job.

You've got to have your team working in unison and harmony and have your zone working in a way that allows players like Ferguson to come and impact the play.

But the part for me, Panda, that got really, really exciting is Myrtleford's rebounding defenders.

Funnily enough, Wodonga beat them in Myrtlefoot by nine points in round nine.

Noah Spateri and Hudson Garoni kicked nine of the Dogs' 11 goals that day.

Yeah, wow.

But then on the weekend, they didn't need them.

I'm just holding on what we saw on the weekend from the Middleford Alpine Saints because they are going to come up against a side who was super hungry with their confidence back.

They did beat Wodonga by 27 points at Martin Park three weeks ago, but Hudson-Garoni wasn't there then.

And they're a different side with Hudson-Garoni.

He kicked six goals at the McNamara Reserve last time these two sides played.

So it's a hold and a watch on Myrtleford.

Noah Spatieri, 59 goals, so he's averaged more than three.

And Hudson-Garoni clearly has averaged up around that four with limited games towards the end of his season.

But this is a guy that took a leap of faith off the back of a wonderful year in the RFL last year for Colin Gully.

Had the pleasure of chatting to him in pre-game in Myrtleford in the early parts of the season when he injured his knee.

We've spoken heavily about life without Hudson-Garoni.

Now, they got by without him for the first two weeks, but now teams know he's not going to be there, or they're planning for him not to be there, and they've worked out how they score without him in their side, and now they've worked out how to stop them without him in the team, Panda.

So, yes, they had a win against the Rovers without Hudson-Garoni, but now at the weekend, Panda...

They only managed to kick the 12 goals and then the week prior against the Yarrawonga Pigeons, they only managed to kick the six goals.

So I think the Bulldogs are in an interesting spot right here, right now as to how they find their best footy once again without one of their superstar players because their last two weeks have been bitterly disappointing for a team that have had a top three chance sitting in front of them.
