Huda Fahmy

Yeah, assalamualaikum.

My name is Huda Fahmy.

I am an author and an illustrator.

I illustrate the webcomic Yes, I'm Hot in This.

Welcome to the New Books Network.

Hi, this is Rebecca Buchanan, host at New Books Network, and today I'm here with Huda Fahmy to talk about her latest book, Huda F.

Would Love You.

Huda, thanks for being here with me today.

That is the best.

I love it.

Well, thank you again so much, Huda Fahmy.

Thank you for talking with me about Huda F would love you and the rest of the Huda collection.

Here's where it gets really interesting.

Look at these two memoirs side by side, Lisa Hanawalt and Huda Fahmy.

Okay.

On the surface, they are telling vastly different stories with completely different art styles, cultural backgrounds, and life stages.

We started with the desire for warmth and the structural comfort of Flip Tropes and Worst Man.

We confronted the crushing silent modern dualities of environmental emptiness and technological apathy in Wandering.

We examined how Lisa Hanawalt and Huda Fahmy use humor, absurdity, and the spatial arrangement of a page to shield themselves while processing the messy realities of societal expectations.

And finally, we faced literal manifestations of our anxieties, the panopticon of modern surveillance in Stag Town, the banal terror of bureaucracy in Strange Cases, and the heavy haunting weight of the past in The Wolf at Memory's End.
