And my way into it was that I would listen to those CTI records, which are so fucking great.

And I'd listen to like Afro Classic, which is a great album by Hubert Laws.

And it's got a version.

It opens, I think, with a version of Fire and Rain by James Taylor.

And if I, I'll just find it for you because it's kind of interesting.

It's called something very basic, like CTI's singer-songwriter, Salute.

What do you remember about its arrangement?

So what happened was that it was something that we hadn't even planned to do, but producer Bob Thiel said, thought, well, as we have a little extra time, why don't we give this a shot and try to redo it with Ron Carter, Bernard Purdy, and Hubert Laws there in the studio.

Yeah, just some

lightweights, just some folks.

And Chick passed away a few years ago, but, um, he's just got an incredible amount of music out there to check out and very different styles.

In some cases, some Latin, some, you know, it goes all the way back to Mongo Santa Maria and playing some early stuff with Hubert Laws.

Um, but, uh, yeah, so,

I think for some people, jazz can be an almost intimidating musical genre in the same way that classical is.

It's with Peter Erskine on drums, Larry Goldings on piano and organ.

Hubert Laws plays on it.

Anyway, I do Dry Cleaner.
