Hsinchu Science Park

It built up technical knowledge through research institutions, sent engineers to the United States, and let those engineers bring their expertise home when they returned.

It developed the Hsinchu Science Park, a place where research, manufacturing, and training could feed into one another in the same location.

Then, in 1985, it brought Morris Chong over from the United States.

He was 55, not a young founder starting something in a garage, a man who had watched the industry for 30 years and then designed a company that would reshape the industry's entire structure.
