Howl at the Moon

They shared a room on the riverwalk, and on the nights they didn't stay behind to watch Randy Rogers or Cameron Black, they strolled arm-in-arm along the river, shared Texas-size margaritas, listened to mariachi, and ate their weight in fajitas.

They danced and sang at the top of their lungs at Howl at the Moon and enjoyed the boat tour twice, the second time because they had kissed throughout the first and missed everything.

Lauren had never been much of a planner, but she'd rehearsed her speech twelve times in her head and three times in front of the mirror.

Still, when Caleb stood before her that final night in San Antonio, she fumbled through what were, she supposed, the most important words she would ever say.

Pretty good.

"We went out dancing at a bar called Howl at the Moon."

I love that.

Uh, pretending to be someone at Howl at the Moon and told her you caught her on camera and her friend saying she had a gun in her purse and that due to her bringing a gun in the bar, she's completely banned from entering the establishment.

And again, you can tell her that you know an establishment, an open carry bar called Adagiana's [laughs] is more suitable for people like her."

And then Barry Melrose, man, I mean, again, somebody else I've known forever.

I remember an All-Star game still in Denver where I walked into a Hell at the Moon piano bar, and he and Steve Levy are sitting on the piano singing like Piano Man and things.

And the one thing I always remember about Barry is when I was covering any of these national events, whether it was... whether it was, uh, um, you know, an all-star game or Stanley cup final, if he walked into a bar, the place would just stop.

And, you know, kids would run up to him.

So it was the guy.

This is hard to envision, but think of it as almost like a Howl at the Moon piano player.

But he's on a – on wheels and there's a guy that looks like passenger you'd never notice him and he's the remote control and he's wheeling him all around like baggage claims so this guy's just playing the piano singing and you know people are like whoa where like how is he controlling the first time i saw it i'm like How is he playing the piano, controlling where he's going, making sure he's not running into passengers? That's

awesome.
