helm hill's known now for being like almost that that nurturing club isn't it because some amazing runners have come out of it but that's it and let's let's put um put it out there like being in a club has really helped you hasn't it oh yeah massively

like um to be fair and being in that environment i think kendall is a brilliant place for runners you know if you're if you're someone looking to maybe get started up in running or whatever or fell running or trail running i think kendall that's a really good base because you're just on the edge of the lake district um you know there's a load of people a real core group of people that are all the same mindset and that's what it was just religiously turning up every wednesday and and then it started going every sort of monday every Wednesday and then Billy would be picking me up after school on a Friday and we'd be going doing hill reps then we'd be out again in the Howgills on the Saturday and then doing like a Kendall Winter League race on a Sunday and that was again like a club culture you know this Kendall Winter League you know Helm Hill really sort of pushed that and have done a brilliant job in creating these fantastic races and really helped bring and have helped brought through loads of really good juniors through doing them races.

It's very similar, isn't it, to Boffra?

I mean we had Kirstie on a few weeks ago talking about a few months ago now talking about Bofra and how it's really inclusive like good for families I mean that series really helps people to come through like Simon Bailey and Oliver Bailey now are battling each other in the seniors but Oliver's come through the juniors and Blue his daughter's also done the same thing but the Kendall Winter League is a similar version of that isn't it like a series of races that again really inclusive and it's a good starting

If you love the fells, you get a wonderful view to the east of the line of the Pennines, from Cold Fell to Cross Fell and Mickle Fell, down to Nine Standards Rig and Malastang, World Boar Fell, look at that.

Wow, to the Howgills, and then you're into the proper fells, as it were, with Lodepot Hill, High Street, Thornthwaite Crag, Rest Dodd, and in front of that is Place Fell, and then to the right of that is Cordale Moor, and St Raven's Edge above Kirkston Pass and Red Screes, and then this other ridge leading up towards Castercam and Helvellyn.
