Well, I would love to talk about Meredith.

Meredith is a ghost, a spirit that has been part of the Opera House going back to at least the early 1900s before the Opera House was closed by the fire marshal, like all of the other Opera Houses were at that time due to fire hazard concerns.

So the story with Meredith is Meredith and her husband met here at the Howell Opera House, and they were local residents, and they enjoyed coming to the Howell Opera House together and enjoying a variety of different types of performances that occurred over the many years.

On this one particular fateful evening, we don't know exactly why, but her husband needed to go ahead and get their seats, and then she followed not long after, and it was difficult to quickly pick out where her husband was sitting because the tickets were purchased while here.

So for perspective, she walked up the staircase to the balcony in the Howell Opera House to get perspective and to see where her husband was sitting, and she did finally visually find her husband from the balcony, but what she found was something that completely devastated her and broke her heart.
