Next, we speak with Richard Birch.

He's the second generation from the Birch family that own Howard Park over in Western Australia.

Good morning, Richard.

Welcome to the Wine Show Australia.

They're fantastic little markets and they lo- they love the wines, uh, which is great.

It's ha- it's hard to not.

Um, Howard Park, it's a very, it's a very famous name, um, and it's just one of the few that your family have.

Tell, tell us the story of Howard Park, how it all came to be in your family and, um, especially we are celebrating the fortieth anniversary, and that's why we've got you on to speak about it today.

And I'm glad you've raised that.

In our September 7 to 20 edition of the Business News magazine, you filed a story on a Margaret River institution, Howard Park Wines, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary.

Now, Tom, I know that you love any opportunity to head down south and but you also appreciate regional family businesses.

So I imagine for you, this was an enjoyable story to file.

Yeah, look, I mean, if anyone's going to pitch a trip to a winery, that's pretty much all the motivation I need.

But this is a particularly interesting one.

I mean, Howard Park Wines, they've been around for 40 years, based, well, kind of, I guess, based in Quarramup.

That's where their flagship winery is, but, you know, roots further back there down into the Great Southern, which, you know, personally, according to me, does the best wines in the country.
