Howard Morton

But of course, you can't have the Munsters without the ever-present Grandpa Munster, originally played by old-timey comedian and perpetual New York gubernatorial candidate Al Lewis.

This version of Grandpa was played by Howard Morton, another one of those character actors with a resume that stretches back as far as 1956 in an endless parade of guest star roles on TV and in movies, but would not actually land a regular series role until 1981, when he was part of the long-forgotten Nell Carter sitcom Gimme a Break, where Morton played Officer Ralph Simpson.
