With Billboard calling this song the modern rock equivalent of Stairway to Heaven, Forever Young was on top of both lists, beating songs like U2's Pride in the Name of Love, New Order's Blue Monday, and The Smiths' How Soon Is Now.

In 2024, Forever Young gained wide popularity on TikTok.

Forty years after the song's release, the song reached number one on the TikTok Billboard charts in the U.S. and stayed there for 10 weeks.

But there's probably 20 songs that I genuinely look at and go, oh, my God.

And I just think a band that could have done How Soon Is Now with a singer and three players, to me, gives them a little

something.
