House of Hackney

So yeah, I do think there's something about getting out into the gardens, getting home.

And that's something that we are... doing a lot of work and experimenting around at House of Hackney, which is a new role that I took on last year where I'm legally the representative for Mother Nature and future generations on the board of this company, which is for me an exciting new frontier from the work at B Lab around really building the B Corp model.

It's like now there's this next frontier of like, how do we truly embed nature into the core of a business? And one tool to do that is through governance.

And of course, governance is a complicated word if we're speaking about words, like people are sort of brush it over.

And I've been really doing a lot of thinking about what is governance and inspired by Chris Turner, who is the CEO of B Lab in the UK.

He talks about governance being really simply, you know, how we take decisions and who's making those decisions.

And another great thinker, Bronte Ansell from Lawyers for Nature, who actually established the nature on board role that I have at House of Hackney.

She talks about nature being about channeling power.

She's also executive in residence at Oxford's Said Business School, where she teaches a regenerative business MBA course.

She serves on the TNFD, the Task Force on Nature-Related Financial Disclosures, and is a founding member of the TISFD and acts as a legal representative for Mother Nature and future generations on the board of House of Hackney, something I know we're both great fans of.

Two great questions.

Um, Maybe I'll start with what can organizations do? I mean, we've talked about the IPNL, but in addition to my role at Natura, I also have this really interesting role at the House of Hackney, which is a UK B Corp.

It works in the luxury interiors design sector, where last year I was appointed to be the legal representative for Mother Nature and Future Generations on the board.
