Hostiles

I like it when a score has got things and you don't know whether they're electronic or whether they're acoustic.

I've talked about this a lot before, but the score that Max Richter does for Hostiles has got this thing in it, the Yabaha.

And I was just watching the credits at the end and I saw Yabaha played by this guy, Gorken Zem, I think his name was.

Anyway, and I got in touch with Max Richter and went, what's a Yabaha? And he went, no, not what's a Yabaha, what is the Yabaha? And it was an instrument that was invented by this guy, Gorkham Zen, I think is his name.

He did Crazy Heart in 2009.

He did Out of the Furnace in 2013, Black Mass in 2015, and then Hostiles in 2017.

Antlers in 2021, and then Pale Blue Eye.

And, you know, that run from 2009 to 2017, I never saw Antlers, but Crazy Heart, Out of the Furnace, Black Mass, Hostiles, all films that I would feel very comfortable recommending to anyone.

They're great watches, very different subject matter, but...

Great films, really enjoyable, and anyone would have a great time watching them.

She was in The New World, a Terrence Malick film from 2005 where she played Pocahontas.

She was in the Christian Bale film, Hostiles, and in Dora, the Explorer and the Lost City of Gold.

But yeah, I just wanted to say her name.

She's in two scenes in this whole movie.

Jason Clarke, Jake Gyllenhaal.

It's between that and Hostiles.

I haven't seen Hostiles.

Are you

ready for this? Christian Bale.

Hang on.

I got to find this cast because this cast is crazy for hostiles.

Hostiles cast.

Yeah, yeah.

I think my ultimate note on Wade was the original implied the horror of being waxed alive, but the new version came out post-Hostiles, so we in this now.

Yeah, absolutely.

Yeah, you can definitely feel Hostiles fingerprints all over this.

...

I, and I never saw Hostiles.

I know a lot of people really liked it.

Um, but like I, I-

Um-

I mean, I ...

The, interesting you pick that example, 'cause I would say that like, yeah, Hostiles and the, uh, I always forget what it's called, the Edgar Allan Poe one.

Pale Blue Eye.
