With me, your host, Dr. Monique Nugent.

I am a hospitalist, and I'm here to talk to you about caring for your loved one through a hospital stay.

Uh, this podcast has been dedicated to getting patients and caregivers through the really unique, oftentimes trying, sometimes traumatic, and often, very often overwhelming experience of being hospitalized.

And this is something we've been doing for, I would say, going on about a year, year and a half.

And I started to do- Get into the corporate aspect of medicine, because when that was going on, I got recruited to one of the largest healthcare enterprises in the country to start their hospitalist program, where hospitalist was very new.

1994, '95, somewhere around there.

Hospitalist was incredibly new.

And the whole idea was, hey, how do we off-burden many of these doctors who are going in early in the mornings to round on their patients before they got to the office, and were having issues with their life and work balance? How could we do that? And I jumped at the opportunity because from a pulmonary perspective, we could take care of those patients that need to be admitted that were critically ill, and those that weren't so ill, because pulmonary, there's this overlaying layers or multiple layers of pulmonary on top of GI, on top of neuro, et cetera.

And so that got me into corporate medicine.
