Hosea 8

And since you have forgotten the law of God, I will also forget your children.

He goes on in Hosea 8 and verse 14.

For Israel has forgotten his maker and built palaces.

And Judah has multiplied fortified cities.

I love you.

But you're just this broken bone.

Some of you may have heard, many would say one of the most famous pictures that he uses is Hosea 8 verse 7.

You've sowed the wind and you're reaping the whirlwind.

And those of the posterity and your families who have been scattered, God will show them mercy.

It's all through Hosea, Isaiah, Jeremiah.

There was a scattering of the children of Israel, but those spring festivals, when Messiah came the first time as Mashiach ben Yosef, the suffering servant, he came to show us, and the very first fruits of the believers, he came to show us, I should say the first fruits of the gathering of the believers, he said, this is how you obey the Creator in spirit and in truth.

Now, you got scattered because you were naughty.

I can see for time's sake, I've got to abbreviate this a little bit because we're going to have people like totally zoning out.

So, here are some uses of trumpets.

We can find it in Joel chapter 2, Jeremiah chapter 4, Numbers chapter 10, Hosea chapter 8, Hosea chapter 5, 1 Chronicles 15, Ezekiel 33, Amos 3, and Zephaniah 1.

They cut themselves, begging foreign gods for grain and new wine, and they turn away from me.

Hosea 8 Sound the alarm! The enemy descends like an eagle on the people of the Lord, for they have broken my covenant and revolted against my law.

Now Israel pleads with me, Help us, for you are our God.

But it is too late.

For this they will be ridiculed in the land of Egypt.

Hosea 8 Put the trumpet to your lips.

An eagle is over the house of the Lord.

Because the people have broken my covenant and rebelled against my law.

As you look at that passage, they sow the wind.

Okay, so guys, you're Hosea 8, verse 7.

They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind.

The stalk has no head.

Now, you might say to me, well, what about Daniel 2.21? What about that? What about he setteth up kings and he removeth kings? Yeah, yeah, that's absolutely true.

But turn to Hosea 8, verse 4.

God can certainly set up a king and he can certainly take down a king, but there's lots of situations where kings are set up that God did not put on the throne.

How do I know that? Look at Hosea 8.4.

They have set up kings, but not by me.

They have made princes, and I knew it not.

Of their silver and their gold have they made them idols that they may be cut off.

So yeah, you can play the Daniel 2.21 card, but you can also play the Hosea 8.4 card.

Give me Daniel 2 in one hand.

Give me Daniel chapter 2 in one hand, and then in the other hand, give me Hosea chapter 8.

So we like to refer to the verses in the book of Daniel that talks about God setting up kings and taking down kings.

So the Bible is very, very concerned about nations and kings and rulers.

When Saul met the Lord on the road to Damascus, Jesus said to Ananias, go thy way for he, Saul, is a chosen vessel unto me, and he's going to bear my name before the Gentiles, before the Jews, and before kings.

So God seems to be fairly interested in the affairs of nations, okay? But when we go to Hosea 8, let's read the first four verses of Hosea 8.
