Hosea 2

nation shall not lift up sword against nation, and neither will they learn war no more.

So there won't be needs for military or fighting or training anymore because Hosea 2 says, bow and sword of battle I will shatter from the earth to make them lie down safely.

And that is where the animal kingdom also is included.

You go to Isaiah 11, 6, it says, "...the wolf shall dwell with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the goat and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together, and the little child shall lead them." It goes on and kind of explains where you got predator and prey are no longer at enmity with each other anymore.

This is for a people who have repented, that there is restoration.

This is in accordance with Hosea 2.

Whenever Israel was in a state where God called them back, God would remove the grain, the wine, and the oil.

But once they repented, he would bring it back.

So Hosea 2 and Joel 2, the same thing.

So this is a time where he is releasing double portion financial abundance.

Now, It says that he will bring the spring rains and the fall rains in the same season.

Verse 2, speak tenderly to Jerusalem.

This same expression appears in Hosea 2, verse 14, also in a context of new exodus and return from exile, new covenant, new creation kind of imagery in Hosea 2, 14 through the end of the chapter.

Speak tenderly to Jerusalem and cry to her.

that her warfare is ended.

Jezreel means God plants.

Hosea 2 In that day you will call your brothers Ami, my people, and you will call your sisters Ruhama, the ones I love.

But now bring charges against Israel, your mother, for she is no longer my wife, and I am no longer her husband.

Tell her to remove the prostitute's makeup from her face and the clothing that exposes her breasts.

Proverbs 5, 18-19, delight in covenant love.

Hosea 2, 19-20, covenant faithfulness.

Ephesians 5, 25-32, Christ and the church.

Revelation 19, 7-9, the marriage supper of the Lamb.

I will betroth you to me forever.

See Hosea 2.18-22 Jesus is not merely using a poetic image.

By calling himself the bridegroom, he reveals a nuptial mystery.

Christ comes in the flesh to unite himself to his bride, the Church.

Truth carrying the falsehood.

Let's talk about the book of Hosea.

If you have to sum up, really, truth carrying the falsehood.

And so he marries a prostitute named Gomer.

Hosea chapter one.

It's crazy.

They will appoint one leader and will come up out of the land, for great will be the day of Jezreel.

Hosea 2.

Say of your brothers, My people, and of your sisters, My loved one.

Rebuke your mother, rebuke her, for she is not my wife, and I am not her husband.
