We're here at the ploughing, and the world of sport features prominently throughout the site.

And this morning we're gonna be meeting a number of special guests, and the first one to join us here is from Horse Racing Ireland.

That's Elaine Burke.

And Elaine, you are the manager with Equip.

Delighted to be here for the next three days.

Um, so I work in Equip and Race.

Um, and we're an arm of Horse Racing Ireland that deals with attracting people into the industry by showcasing the careers and pathways we have available.

Education, training, and then all importantly, wrapping supports arou- and services around the existing people to make sure they stay.

Paul Allen has been the radio voice of the Minnesota Vikings for more than 20 years, calling some of the biggest moments in the franchise's history.

He's also a longtime radio host at KFAN and has an incredible background in horse racing broadcasting.

Paul, welcome to the family business.

It's great to have you.

And, um, you know, I wasn't, I wasn't living there with them obviously.

Um, but I got to meet you when I, we'd come out to games and I got to hear about you and, Those are the fun friendships, like you said, when you get to connect with someone who's not necessarily in the building, but who is a part of the team and a part of the games.

And let's be honest, we know the real bonding was over the horse racing, right? Oh, yeah.

Yeah, so my life growing up, my entire family's history, say over the past 60 years, has been around the racehorse industry.

Everywhere I've lived and my mother and father lived was a town that was with the main – The main focus in the town was horse racing.

Uh, the weather that was Lexington, Kentucky, Louisville, Kentucky, Saratoga Springs, New York, or Ocala, Florida.

These are all areas of, um, with a high concentration of, uh, thoroughbreds.

What do I think a horse is worth? And just because I might think a horse is worth $100,000 doesn't mean that like sometimes I'll have a client who really wants it and he'll give $200,000 for it.

My job is just to let him know what I think, what I believe that it could be worth, what the long-term goal might look like, what it could be worth if things don't go right.

So when a person gets involved in horse racing and they want to buy horses, they need to realize that – The more money you spend on a horse does not necessarily mean the better shot you have of having a successful racehorse.

A lot of the initial investment in the racehorse just helps you... may help speak that in the, in regards to the horse's stallion career or what, what it could be worth later on and what, what that looks like if it succeeds in the racing atmosphere.

If they were tamable...

Yeah, they'd be bred into horse racing and stuff.

But you never hear of...

At circuses, though, you've never been to a circus and seen a zebra tamer.

uh so yes uh she offered it to the british museum they turned it down so she just sold it another blooming legend moment they were serious pieces what she had uh then she got into horse racing uh she didn't just do it under her own name though she she raced under the name mr theobalds her country estate was called theobalds park her and her husband
