Is that the sharpest win-win on the table? So Europe gets the metal, Kazakhstan gets a liability returned into an asset, and also, of course, as you said, having an open gate to the horizon Europe.

Yeah, I think tailings are indeed a very good example where in the past, if you look at Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe projects, we have worked enormously on tailing cases in Europe.

But the thing is that the tailings in Europe are often only very small volume tailings.

So we're talking about one or two million tons of tailings.

This is what we're going to talk about now.

We're going to talk about exactly what happens because I've tried this on my own body with the last round of Horizon 2020 calls.

They were called what? You had these huge calls with a lot of money and I handled three at the time, so I had 90 partners.

Yeah, I'm going to because now I have two thoughts.

First of all, it's the attitude of the manager.

And then when things really, where you have a situation where is this going to happen? Now I had, when I was doing these three huge Horizon 2020 proposals together with my colleague, She got a burnout.

She crashed one week before submission.

But then they all got funded in another, in another mechanism.

One became a, a Horizon 2020 grant.

Um, one became- my fellowship, my five-year fellowship that I have now in, in a different form.

Yeah.

It's freely available and open since more than 20 years.

At MagniEurope, we have an R&D team, and since now it's over 10 years, we have participated in Horizon 2020 research projects that are funded by the European Commission.

And in these projects, we try to explore our new frameworks, open APIs, and new fields.

So we have worked in the past with...

numerous, I think in total 12 projects, nine in the US, mainly through ESTCP and CERTIP platforms, but also one DIU platform, which is a really good program they've got over there.

And then two in Europe, which are under the Horizon 2020 project, and then one over here, which is a CRC grant that we got a few years back.

So, I mean, we've been really fortunate and supported, I guess, by that grant community globally.

Yeah, wow.

Also, I played a leading role in 10 European Union-funded projects and focused actions.

For example, in 2016-2020, I coordinated the Horizon 2020 project Social Innovation in Marginalized Rural Areas , where forest was in the focus.

In addition to social and institutional innovation, my main research interests have centered around multifunctional forestry and sustainability for social-ecological systems under climate change and other drivers and pressures.

I have been with the Euphra for two decades, primarily with Division IV on forest assessment, modeling and management.
