Hopi Kachina figure

There's a-

There's, uh, the, the Kachina Doll one was super scary.

Mm.

And the one with the game where they're camping in the RV, that one was really creepy.

I'm Alison Stewart.

We're staying at the Brooklyn Museum, and we're headed up to the fourth floor to see an exhibition that just opened, one that explores the tradition of Hopi kachina dolls.

These dolls, known as titu, represent katsinam, spirits who bring the world in balance for the Hopi people of northeastern Arizona.

Hopi Kachina Dolls: Blessings for a Balanced World features more than 120 works from the Brooklyn Museum's collection.

The exhibit, the exhibit, the exhibition looks at the tradition through Hopi women and girls, and trace the dolls' significance through different stages of a Hopi woman's life.

Dare Turner is the curator of indigenous art at the Brooklyn Museum.

And if anybody wants to see some of the exhibition, I took pictures when I was there on Friday.

They're on our Instagram right now, so go to @allofitWNYC.

In fact, she is one of the curators... of an amazing show that's coming up October 2nd through April 18th at the Brooklyn Museum.

It is called Hopi Kachina Dolls Blessings for a Balanced World.

So Colleen, thank you for joining us.

I'm so excited to have you on.

I feel like this is a perfect example of an opportunity that can exist for you if you seek it and you want to have good intentions about it, not just for yourself but others.

Well, this sounds so amazing.

It's Hopi Kachina Dolls, Blessings for a Balanced World at the Brooklyn Museum.
