Hope Sandoval

So first of all, I thought it sounded like Massey Starr, like the entire band had Massey Starr.

I think the voice is a little of Hope Sandoval.

From Mazzy Star, but then as I was listening to it, there's a little bit of Susanna Hoffs in there, too, from the Bengals.

Kind of a blend of the two.

But yeah, I would strongly recommend that you listen to this on headphones and in a quiet space.

I'd also strongly recommend that you listen to this on a day, if you're the type of person that when you're sad or you're a little bit down or a little bit lethargic, like any of those type of moods, right? Like a little bit stuck, any of those type of moods, melancholic, on we would even work for this one um that's I think how you best experience this album if you're the person that doesn't like to listen to sad music when you're sad I don't know if this you'll ever get this one but then again I don't know if you were ever like a port of said person either because like it's kind of baked into to Beth Gibbons lyrical style right like it it just works best It's kind of like listening to Mazzy Star and Hope Sandoval.

I would like an uplifting song that has a groove to it.

It's like, that's not what...

And he be- he became this kind of paternal mentor to myself and Bernard.

I think he worked with, um, um, uh, Hope Sandoval as well around that time.

He, he, he went...

He underwent a sort of renaissance, Bert, which...

I bet that's interesting.

Hope Sandoval from Mazzy Star.

Sad, sad, Bastard music.

I love, love sad bastard music.

It's just good music.

Especially Mazzy Star.

I could go on for days about how much I like that band and Hope Sandoval particularly.

It looks like Sepultura covered this song.

[cat meowing] Uh.

What? But, uh, I went to see Hope Sandoval and the Warm Adventure-- uh, Warm Inventions in San Francisco, and, uh, it was at this place called The Great American, Great American Hall or Legion Hall or something like that.

I think it's Legion Hall.

And I saw this full concert and, you know, my-- you know, Hope Sandoval is, is Mazzy Star, and that's like one of my favorite bands of all time.

Had the greatest time.

I stole the setlist, like, you know, I had the full experience.

your finale

track, the beautiful voice of Hope Sandoval.

Are you a big fan of hers?

Huge.

You get

it all back now in my heart

From 2017's Son of a Lady, that was Hope Sandoval with Antiquity, the finale choice of my guest mixer this week, Paul Hiraga.

So, Paul, we've reached the end of the list.
