Hong Kong New Wave

Growing up watching Wong Kar Wai's, Anne Hui's and Stanley Kwan's, those big names.

Well, the New Wave, Hong Kong New Wave, starting from late 70s and then peaked at 80s.

And then we have Wong Kar Wai in the 90s.

And like growing up, with films like that.

With the visuals, were those concepts yours as well or did you bring in writers or videographers to build the storylines of the videos?

yeah so um david c who's like one of my best friends um who's actually based in london um but he's in paris at the moment um he uh so i like uh we were like friends and then i approached him about doing music videos because i'd always really admired his work and i essentially like reached out to him and was like Hey, I've really been wanting to explore Taiwanese New Wave and Hong Kong New Wave and Chinese New Wave because they were the movies I was watching at the time, like Wong Kar Wai and Edward Yang.

Yi Yi is one of my favorite films ever.

And then, you know, like Fallen Angels, Millennium Mambo, all these like really like central touchstones of like Asian New Wave.

Yeah, I think these type of movies are...

I think they call it Hong Kong New Wave and Hong Kong...

The second wave of the new wave.

So I think this falls under the second wave, which ended at Infernal Affairs, which you mentioned.
