and that confirm what some of the findings were from the research.

The first is a study by Hollis Scarborough of Scarborough's Rope fame, and it was published in 1990.

She followed a group of children from about two and a half years old all the way through the second grade.

Now, many of them were from families with a history of reading difficulties.

So we have some things in the works for our students in fourth grade and up.

Structural literacy is not just about phonics, and so one of our, um, one of our models that we use here in Mississippi, um, through our training in the science of reading is Hollis Scarborough's Reading Rope, and that top part of the Reading Rope is that language comprehension piece where that bottom part is where the phonics falls in, the word recognition, um, sight recognition, decoding.

You know, that information is in that bottom part.

But that top part of the rope continues to grow, and that top part of the rope includes vocabulary.
