M
3:51Moses MukisaHOST
I'm seeing people from Hoima, Kakoba, Ishaka, Kabale, I think if I was a pastor in this area, Fort Porto, Chegewa, I think I would be a pastor of Ishaka because the Ishaka people seem to be more excited about their pastor than all the others.
M

M
29:40MelvinHOST
You know, for me, going to Kabale or going to Hoima or going anywhere upcountry, the feeling that it gives you, it almost like gives you permission to just do nothing, bro.
M
29:50MelvinHOST
Because there's nothing happening around you.
M
29:53MelvinHOST
It's quiet.

M
21:17Michael AinomugishaHOST
Will they be up to show what it means to win in Hoima? Because in this kind of competition, they are in the, I think they're in group, They're in Group A.
M

The $16B Refinery: Who Really Takes The Risk?
D
10:51Dominic MulindaHOST
East African Crude Oil Pipeline.
D
10:54Dominic MulindaHOST
So this is a pipeline that runs from a region in Lake Albert in Uganda called Hoima all the way to Tanga in Tanzania, around 1,400 kilometer stretch of pipeline.
D
11:06Dominic MulindaHOST
Think of it as a hot water bo- [laughs] a hot water bottle, 'cause Uganda's crude is very waxy and thick, so it needs, like, a really warm pipeline to keep it fluid.
E
11:16Evans MuneneHOST
Keep it, keep it flowing.
D
12:35Dominic MulindaHOST
We, we steer, we steer clear.
D
12:36Dominic MulindaHOST
Uh, we, we try to steer clear.
D
12:38Dominic MulindaHOST
Either way, the point is, at peak, Hoima is a much larger production of crude than what would get in Turkana.
D
12:46Dominic MulindaHOST
At peak it would do actually around 230,000 barrels per day.

The Africa Report Guest: Nixon Kitembo

having a 30% stake in that particular oil.
N
2:51Nixon KitemboGUEST
And then you have Uganda signing a deal in building an oil pipeline from Hoima, where the oil is being extracted, to the port of Langa.
N
3:09Nixon KitemboGUEST
So the refinery construction First, it was discussed between the Tanzanian authority and Aliko Dangote, the Nigerian mogul, and eventually he moved to Kenya, and now Kenya has launched or inaugurated the initial phase of the construction of the refinery land, but conspicuously, when President Yorimu Seven of Uganda was invited to that particular ceremony, He said that it's okay, Kenya can have the refinery, and all the discussion about how the refinery was about to happen, but still Uganda is going to have its oil, small refinery, and Tanzania can have its small refinery, but the crude oil is going to be exported through the ports of Tanga, then again go back to Lamu in Kenya for... um for for refining so what does this mean for the region one it could be a meaning of a of uh expansion of jobs in terms of refining refining products uh the final products of the refineries for for example fertilizers because it just has recent kenya signed a deal between nigeria and Aliko Dangote and otherwise, a refinery in Nigeria to buy fertilizers.
N
4:45Nixon KitemboGUEST
So, it's those competing interests, but at the political level, you have to look at the East African community.
