You know, last year we went to Lewis County.

Lewis County, Hohenwald.

That's way over there.

And we had to go to Milan, which is not bad because I've been to Milan a thousand times.

The SRTC now holds laboratories and classrooms where vocational training students can earn certificates in medical technology, respiratory care, nursing, practical nursing, welding, medical informatics, automotive tech, engineering systems tech, radiology tech, veterinary tech, and HVAC.

Students from the Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology, or TCATs, in Pulaski and Hohenwald can study at the SRTC, and the TCATs are sending extensions of their programs north and west respectively so that students who live closer to Columbia State can take them without commuting.

"This facility is all about access and opportunity to provide the skilled workforce that our region needs," said Dr. Ben Whitehead, president of TCAT Pulaski, which offers the in-demand welding and HVAC programs in the SRTC.

TCAT Pulaski is also at work on a 27-million-dollar campus improvement for the sake of its own vocational programs.

For TCAT Hohenwald and the SRTC, it is a dream come true for our technical programs to include automotive tech, which will also include EV and hybrid and practical nursing, with the SRTC providing them a permanent home and existence in Maury County, said Dr. Kelly Kike Carroll, president of TCAT Hohenwald and a former Columbia State student.

"The SRTC is ultimately an investment in people," said Dr. Janet F. Smith, Columbia State's president.

"It is an investment in workforce development, stronger opportunities, and future generations.

Way to go, Skeeter.

Do you know how many guys were called Skeeter when I was growing up in Hohenwald, Tennessee?

We had a bunch of Skeeters and Skeeters and Pumpkins, and I loved them all.

Bubba One, B- Bubba Two.

Yeah.

Famous last words in Hohenwald growing up were, "Hey, Bubba, watch this." It's bad every time.

That would probably get you a midnight gig in Hohenwald down the road somewhere.

Does it pay? Is that Lewis County? Yeah,

I'm buying the time, I guess.

The new SRTC will serve as a regional hub for hands-on training and career education in high-demand fields like nursing, welding, HVAC, automotive technology, respiratory care, engineering systems technology, and more.

"TCAT Hohenwald is delighted and honored to be joining the Columbia State SRTC to offer automotive technology and practical nursing to our region," said Dr. Kelly Key Carroll, TCAT Hohenwald president.

"Both TCAT programs are defined as in-demand career occupations programs which offer the competencies, certificates, and industry cred-credentialing necessary for student completion and student success to contribute to our southern Middle Tennessee workforce development needs associated with business and industry," she said.

Built through a partnership between Columbia State, TCAT Hohenwald, and TCAT Pulaski, the center is designed to strengthen workforce development across the region.

"The SRTC represents a transformational partnership that expands access to workforce training where students need it most," said Mike Whitehead, TCAT Pulaski president.

"By bringing TCAT Pulaski's welding and HVACR programs to Columbia, we're removing barriers to education while strengthening the skilled workforce across southern Middle Tennessee," he said.

Her Royal Highness, the Princess Aline of Hohenwald, came into the life of Morton Carlton, or Morny Carlton, as men called him, of New York City, when that young gentleman's affairs and affections were best suited to receive her.

Had she made her appearance three years sooner or three years later, it is quite probable that she would have passed on out of his life with no more recognition from him than would have been expressed in a look of admiring curiosity.

But coming when she did, when his time and heart were both unoccupied, she had an influence upon young Mr. Carlton which led him into doing several wise and many foolish things, and which remained with him always.

He turned the page and surveyed the features of the Oxford crew with less interest and then turned the page again and gazed critically and severely at the face of the princess with the high-bred smile.

He had hoped that he would find it less interesting at a second glance but it did not prove to be so.

She's probably engaged to one of those johnnies beside her and the Grand Duke of Hohenwald behind her must be her brother.

It was always good to try and make contacts.

You know, you talk to somebody, you know, anybody who lives in, you know, Hohenwald, Tennessee, and they say, yeah, I know this guy, Mason, and they give me his number, and then I'd be able to get started there.

A lot of times I would find an AA meeting, and they would know where the NA meetings were.

They had a bit more of an organizational imperative at the time.
