Hogsback

Just to give you guys some more information, the Wild Bird Trust organization is kind of like the overarching project, and then the Cape Parrot Project lives within the Wild Bird Trust.

The Wild Bird Trust was founded in 2009 by Dr. Steve Boys in a small village, Hogsback, which is a- about 11 hours east of Cape Town, South Africa.

You've all probably heard of

It's 200 years of... texts, prose, poetry, novels that have spoken so much of our experience in the modern South African experiment or the modern South African tales.

How that has influenced my work is that because I'd always known about it, Making the decision to move to the Eastern Cape to Hogsback, which is 30 kilometers from Alice, where I do my groceries, the land comes alive.

In South Africa, there is, of course, we have a disembodiment from land because of its history.

But that was the first healing to be embodied by seeing a march of these figures walking through the landscape from people's minds, people who've overcome missionary censorship, nationalist censorship to respectability as we have found our middle class or negotiating our middle class.

Janet, seeing as I've mentioned the Eastern Cape, I'm going to go straight to the one item on.

your list which is familiar to me because it's the Hogsback and the Kai River and those are two areas I spent a lot of time in

as a child.

What makes that part of the country so special to you? So I

lived and worked in the Eastern Cape for about six years so I got to discover we did the most amazing morning walks in the Hogsback discovered those beautiful waterfalls and then usually ended up at lunch at some friend, some fellow academic at the university.

And it is the stories of the people behind those experiences.

I mean, we would go to the guy from the Caribbean who would tell us that he went to all the gender meetings because that's the best place to meet women.

He was just so generous in everything that he made.
