It was shortly after the Battle of the Diamond within a year or two that the first recorded church service ever took place of a Thronecree church.

And what's significant about that is in Ploughton's History of Ireland,

he records

that on leaving their church service at Thronecree, the congregation feeling empowered by the sermon they'd listened about anti-Catholicism and anti-Irish nationalism, came out of the church, and Floyd and his sister, he records that they then descended upon two inoffensive Catholics who were simply working in a field and beating to death.
