Hiroshima mon amour

Now, Un Enquidor, I don't know whether you've seen it or not, bears no resemblance to any Georges Frangieux film ever made.

One of the references which they came back to a lot whilst making it was Hiroshima Mon Amour.

But they were both friends.

They were both fans.

So it's kind of interesting.

And then I watched Hiroshima Mon Amour last night.

Fucking...

Man, what a beautiful-looking movie.

A lot of that movie is still photog- ph- still photography of, or photography that was taken after the bomb was dropped, and even some of the museum stuff, I think, if I remember correctly.

But it feels like the biggest influence, like kinda turning that concept including, you know, focusing in on one couple or family juxtaposed against all the stuff going on around it, but starting well before, where Hiroshima Mon Amour is after everything has happened.

Yeah, I, I think that would probably be an influence.

Definitely, uh, a few years earlier, Peter Watkins' The War Game, which is a, was made for the BBC as well, and it is a, like a essentially fake documentary about, um, a nuclear strike, uh, in Britain.

You know, one of your favourite films is Sweet Home Alabama.

But it's similar to another one we did in recent months was Hiroshima Mon Amour.

And that was a slow burner in a different kind of way.

There was a lot of emotion bubbling under the surface and pain.
