you can't put, you can't find words, you know, and that's why even in Japan, when you walk into some of those forests with those big Hinoki pine forests, or in Korea, you know, when you walk in those restored forests, restored after this horrible war, you know, this is our mission as forest therapy leaders, you know, is to never give up on our mission, you know, We may build, we may grow trees under which we may never sit, but we have grown them.
Susan JoachimGUEST

We have put them on the ground for the next generation.

So this is a great career for anyone listening in as a forest therapy guy.

Yes, that's right.
John La PumaGUEST

So, Hinoki, of course, is a type of cypress and a Japanese cypress, where the original studies were done by King Lee, who is part of the Nippon Medical School in Tokyo.
John La PumaGUEST
20:19
And he repeated this.
John La PumaGUEST
20:21
What he did is take people initially into three days in the forest and gave them immersion in the forest.
John La PumaGUEST
20:29
But it's also been shown that it isn't simply the phytoncides from Cyprus or Hinoki, that almost all trees give off phytoncides.
John La PumaGUEST
20:38
Some codifers, pine, cedar, spruce, fir, more than others, but all trees give off phytoncides.
John La PumaGUEST

which are, again, aromatic oils that you breathe in.

Shannon RogersHOST

From the traditional Japanese point of view, there is a long tradition in Japan of leaving Hinoki bath components unfinished, including tubs, stools, benches, even wall paneling.
