Himley

It used to be really good.

They used to do this big bonfire by us at Himley, if anyone's local.

But they don't do the bonfire anymore.

They only do the fireworks.

We opened the door.

The community that these groups have built and, for example, I know there's more examples, but the ones that spring to mind, every year, for the last three years, we've gone and done the Dragon Boats at Himley.

Our Warleith group is, you know, stone's throw from Himley Park.

And what's lovely to see is... a group of men that came through the door as individuals going through something on their own, not with family members there or anything like that.

They came to that group on their own.

You now see them at Himley at the dragon boats and they bring their families along.

Their kids are playing together.

They come and say hello at the stand.

There is far more on this subject that unites us than divides us, but it is about whether this Parliament is willing to step in and stop the wanton destruction of our shared history.

His belief that heritage pubs needed more protection was triggered by the destruction of the iconic Crooked House pub, which stood in Himley, in his South Staffordshire constituency, for more than 250 years.

Known as Britain's wonkiest pub, subsidence caused by Victorian coal mines meant the pub had tilted by 15 degrees, more than the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Mike Wood said first-time visitors would step inside and swear the beer had gone straight to their heads.
