Hillel II

is the only holiday we don't know the day or the hour of in advance, the only holy day, because we have to wait for the physical new moon sighting.

We do not go off the conjunction of the new moon, the Hillel 2 calendar.

All the rabbis will tell you that the Hillel 2 calendar goes off the conjunction.

They switched that after the diaspora to try to get them on an easier to calculate calendar, because you can surely tell when there will be no moon visible, but you can't always predict when we will see the first sliver.

And then 10 days later, at sunset tonight, as the ninth day of the seventh month ended, we started Yom HaKippurim.

That's the claim.

That Hillel II sanctified every new moon until the coming of the Messiah in the year 6000, according to the rabbinical record.

That's their claim.

That's one formulation of the claim.

Although if I could travel in time, I would condemn the me of today.

That's which is a humbling thing.

Somebody said, why do we condemn the Hillel II calendar? I'm not trying to condemn the Hillel II calendar.

I am trying to put it in its historical context, including the context of today, and say, look, if you are out in the middle of nowhere, and you don't have access to information, and all you have are rabbinical Jews nearby who are keeping it on a certain day, and you feel led to keep it on that day, I'm not going to knock you for that.

And Like we mentioned last time, he was the son of the previous Mishnah that we saw, Rabbi Shimon Gamliel.

And he's a direct descendant of Hillel and a direct descendant of King David.

In the first century before the Common Era, there was a shift that happened.

And that is because the Jewish teens, the Jews didn't have teens anymore.

They're the real deal because they come from King David.

So, Rebbe Judah the Prince, and many of the teachers that we've had in the previous Mishnahs, it's a direct line.

Hillel, and then Shimon, and then Gamliel, and then Shimon, then Gamliel, and then, of course, Rebbe Judah the Prince, and onward.

And this lasted for hundreds of years, until the middle of the 4th century.

You can ask any rabbi.

They changed the calendar to be the Hillel 2 calendar that goes off the conjunction of the new moon so that during the diaspora they would have everyone on the same calendar.

But that is not biblical.

The biblical calendar went off the new moon sighting.

It cannot be on the conjunction of the new moon.

We know rabbinical Judaism changed the calendar.

We know the Hillel 2 calendar is a thousand percent wrong.

They admit it is a change from the biblical way.
