But, you know, those will motivate a cohort of the electorate, the MAGA base and stuff.

But then, you know, I also worry about that Republican suburban vote, thinking like your Highland Park, Dallas suburban Republican, who's more of like a kitchen table taxes and spending Republican who we've had a hard time keeping in the tent in the in the Trump era, frankly.

And if we can educate those people about how far left James Tallarico is on pocketbook issues, hopefully we can get them to vote for Ken Paxton.

For years, Methodist congregations have been breaking away from their parent organization over differences of theological opinion, particularly whether to welcome LGBT churchgoers, but not Highland Park United Methodist Church, one of the oldest and biggest Christian congregations in Dallas.

The church has maintained its connection to the United Methodist denomination, but that relationship does appear to be on the rocks.

The Highland Park Church and its parent organization, are now embroiled in a lawsuit over the congregation's bylaws.

Joining us now to tell us more, Ruth Graham, Dallas-based religion reporter for The New York Times.

Can you characterize Highland Park United Methodist Church for us? What sort of place is it?

Like, for instance, in New York, we're looking at Brooklyn and then lower Manhattan, right? restaurants, bars, and then our community is in Brooklyn has been supporting us since day one.

When we look at somewhere like Texas, it may not be downtown Dallas, Highland Park area, it may be Frisco, where more of us live, you know, have a little bit more money.

So we're really breaking it down that way.

And doing deep dives in those areas with influencers that live in those areas, marketing campaigns in those areas, whether it be digital, and you'd be surprised even radio, terrestrial radio, and the markets are working as well.
