Highland Park distillery

on Twitter the other day about

Highland Park 18 versus the Signatory Vintage version.

Highland park.

And they were like, it's like, cause it was reduced the Highland park 18.

So it was about 80 quid instead of its usual new RRP somewhere on the moon.

And I said, well, it's pretty good value now.

Yep.

We have Highland Park 12, which actually kind of surprised me being on the list.

That was

me again.

So it's a good, happy medium of everything.

It doesn't do everything well, but it does most things.

I've got to say, I'm generally a Highland Park fanboy, but usually it's the cast strength or when Highland Park is an Orkney in an IB.

have a Highland Park 12-year, too.

Pardon? The age statement on the King card?

You know, I have not seen one on it, to be honest with you.

I compared it to this single

malt in a pork cast, and I got a very close on the nose also.

So this Highland Park 12.

Look, that's almost two identical colors there.

It's full and rich all the way from the high notes to the low notes.

I mean, I don't want to say this doesn't taste like Highland Park.

I'm not quite sure what it tastes like to me, but.

There's something about like a Highland style scotch that's lightly peated that I'm getting here.

with like lots of extra years of age.

I think it varies distillery to distillery, definitely peat to peat.

Like a really old Highland Park tastes very different from a really old Laphroaig.

And neither of those really resemble the young counterparts.

... 'cause basically this is, this is the, um, this is the Highland Park Suiltaire, which was-

Which, which somebody at the bar- Someone at the bar not connected to the podcast ... somebody at the bar not connected to the podcast said-

Yeah.

But it's a Highland Park-

Anyway, in the whiskeys, uh, out of the 60, there, there were two that, that really stood out.

One was a Highland Park, and the other one was a, was a Macallan Fine Oak, and I think it was the 10-year-old, um, at the time.

Mm-hmm.

And that Fine Oak 10-year-old had such a beautiful coconut and tea note that the fift- the Fine Oak 15 was also in it, but I always found the 15 had way more tea note.

Mm.

But the 10, coconut was always the flavor profile that would come through.

Um, I didn't pick the 10 in the top three, but I did pick the 15 and I, and I picked the Highland Park out.

And then the, the, I can't remember the other whiskey.

Yeah.

Now, when we talk about Orkney produce, my claim to fame is the guy who was with me and myself, we cleaned the night porter's stock in the Kirkwall Hotel of Highland Park.

Emptied it.

Yeah, we spoke a lot about Highland Park while we were up there that weekend, actually, as well.

There's a couple of breweries there, isn't there, that are very popular? Oh, yeah,

yeah.

They're really good.

The Swanee Brewery, what a character that guy is, and he's so knowledgeable on his product.

Yeah, I'm going to finish that bottle for sure.

I mean, I have Highland Park 12 as well, and it'll probably take me a while to finish that.

And Highland Park, I think, is pretty good too.

But like, this is slightly better because it's not quite as on one of those edges, you know, where it's like,

well, you know, kind of the park
