Hexing Squelcher

So you could somehow get Omni Presence out, cheat it out, whatever.

And if you have two creatures, you have a Bird of Paradise and a Hexing Squelcher.

Okay, cool.

You can cast two cost spells.

Like, oh no, my counterspells, you know, now the blue counterspells can't be messed with.

Oh, that's bad.

And like, we had the Hexing Squelcher in red before.

And people are like, well, why is everybody upset about that and not Hexing Squelcher? It's like, people were upset about Hexing

Yeah, I think there has been some discussion about this card online.

I at least witnessed some discussion about this one, that it is now compared to Hexing Squelcher, which is the closest version of this kind of effect that sees play.

And it is compared a lot to this card and thinking, okay, now we had Spider Punk, now we had Hexing Squelcher, now we have Samut, now we have to play all the time Samut.

But I think it has some upside, but I don't think it overall makes the cut that it's better than Hexing Squelcher.

Hexing Squelcher by itself is not countable.

That's a big thing, I think.

Samut is countable.

You still see some amount of that... deck building implication in Modern Day Storm as well.

Like now you have, everything is easy mode in Modern Day Legacy, where you just get Hexing Squelcher and a free Time Twister in Echo of Eons.

But the idea of I'm going to generate, I have a card that generates a boatload of resources for both players, and therefore I want my opponent to be irrelevant from the table.

That way any of the spells that they draw, they can't interact with me.

Now, instead of Silence and Orange Chant, you just have Hexing Squelcher, which, you know, you're never interacting with.

And instead of Ill-Gotten Gains, you have Echo of Eons.

But, like, the deck-building implications of, like, what these decks wanted to do did exist even here.

I've had a thought about the Dimir Moon Shadow deck, which doesn't really apply here to the Hogak one.

But the Dimir Moon Shadow deck, there's games where they open on like turn one Thoughtseize, snuff out your Hexing Squelcher.

I've already fetched twice.

I'm like, this deck could be playing Death's Shadow, and it's just not.

It is playing four White Orchid Phantom.

That is a card pretty good against both Tron and Eldrazi.

And then looking at other deck lists, it looks like a lot of them are playing two Hexing Squelcher.

If you did want to dial up that Eldrazi notch, you could potentially play four.

There are two cards that I think are the current, like, my current boogeymen, that, like, I just get so tilted when I see them.

One is Hexing Squelcher, which stops interaction-

... on the stack, and the other is, uh, Petrified Hamlet, which stops Wasteland.

But then again, it's also an answer to the new goblin that makes spells uncounterable for your opponent.

Yes, Hexing Squelcher.

Which is important, like you take this in against Storm for example, because one, it can counter their Burning Wish or the Timur enchantment, which allows them to...

It'd be real close to a top 10 contender with that PPG, but it's not there yet.

I think it's because of Hexing Squelcher.

Yeah, definitely.

I mean, Hexing Squelcher coming out this year has kind of increased it.

And you can look at it.

Most of the cards are red-ish.

I do not want to see more Rogsci.

I do think
