Hermitage AOC

It did come over being named Syrah, but then also some other synonyms.

Hermitage, because remember these vines were sourced from northern Rome, as well as different spellings, and also the name Shiraz because of this theory that the grape was from the town of Shiraz itself.

Shiraz was the name that gained popularity, and so that is why the grape is called Shiraz today.

When DNA fingerprinting was finally available in 1998, the parentage was established.

It is expensive and it is time consuming.

And there are some extraordinary wines that are made here.

It's also Hermitage and Crow's Hermitage.

Hermitage is one complete hillside and makes more concentrated wines.
