If you have evidence or reasoning why you think that isn't the case, I'm happy to hear that.
SpannersHOST
37:16
But my default when, like Christian Tilke instead of Herman Tilke, I have such a massive chip on my shoulder.
SpannersHOST
37:26
I do.
SpannersHOST
37:27
I have a massive working class chip on my shoulder.
Scott TuffyGUEST
8:21
There are multiple lines that can be taken there and you can see multiple cars go side by side at the race start and throughout the race as well.
Richard ReadyHOST
8:30
When we saw that render of Rwanda, and I'll do a reckon about this as well, did it say a Herman Tilke track or did it say Tilke design?
Scott TuffyGUEST
8:42
It said Tilka Designers.
Scott TuffyGUEST
8:43
So my understanding is Tilka are the architects.
RosieHOST
3:29
And to further up that it's got, you know, experience behind it.
RosieHOST
3:35
I don't know how much Herman Tilke is involved directly, but his company is helping Wurtz with the design and sort of implementation of like where to get the proper resources and stuff.
RosieHOST
3:45
And I mean, Tilke did Coda and a bunch of other places.
RosieHOST
3:49
Some people think too many tracks, but point is, he does know what he's doing.
Nicola SagliaGUEST
9:36
Nicola SagliaGUEST
10:05
Sì, era quando, era quando Tilke, era quando Tilke era ancora evidentemente in una fase, in una fase-
Mariano FroldiHOST
10:12
Creativa, diciamo così.
Nicola SagliaGUEST
10:13
In grado di disegnare tracciati come Dio comanda.
Sean KennedyHOST
6:12
But, you know, it's still interesting to get a comparison on a like-for-like circuit.
Sean KennedyHOST
6:15
It's a 5.514-kilometer circuit built by, and we're shouting it out a lot at the moment, Herman Tilke was one of the key architects.
Sean KennedyHOST
6:22
And yet another example in recent memory of Formula One of, Tilke-dromes were all right, weren't they? We miss a Tilke-drome.
Sean KennedyHOST
6:29
We love a Tilke-drome, despite having spent the better part of two decades shitting on them back in the day.
Spanners ReadyHOST
45:00
And it's great.
Spanners ReadyHOST
45:01
And whether it was... deliberate or not I think it is deliberate because Herman Tilke likes error generating corners it's unique I can't think of anywhere on the F1 calendar where the angle and the slope changes so dramatically under braking so you've got a lot of corners like turn 14 Bahrain I think it's the left hander where the corners, the apex is disappearing to your left and you're going downhill and you're off camber.
Spanners ReadyHOST
45:26
So you've got a balance between left and right.
Spanners ReadyHOST
45:28
And so you see people locking up that inside wheel quite a lot and struggling.
Spanners ReadyHOST
46:58
I don't know how corporate it is, but, you know, paddock passes, invitations, change my opinion.
Spanners ReadyHOST
47:04
I've been very honest with that.
Spanners ReadyHOST
47:06
So it's very much like, yeah, the Herman Tilker, it was almost like he perfected what he was doing in a lot of ways by the time he got to Circuit of the Americas.
Spanners ReadyHOST
47:14
And, you know, It's like the younger child who gets the benefit of better parenting.
JD UnderwoodHOST
1:13
No lefts?
Justin CrawfordHOST
1:17
There is some inspiration from other tracks on the grid, right? For those of you guys who've been following us for a little bit, you've heard us talk about it, and anybody who knows the world of F1, this track was designed by a German circuit designer, Hermann Tilke, and we've talked about him on the podcast before, but he designed this track right here in Koda.
Justin CrawfordHOST
1:36
Same
Cameron CookHOST
1:37
as Silverstone and maybe Monza and also the Singapore track as well.
Will BuxtonHOST
26:47
Facility looks amazing.
Will BuxtonHOST
26:49
Tilke are going to be designing it.
Will BuxtonHOST
26:51
Alex Wirtz, XF1 driver, is part and parcel of that.
Will BuxtonHOST
26:56
So it's the same crew that are bringing together that new vehicle.
Peter WindsorHOST
6:02
And not only driving, but part of the Formula One industry training program.
Peter WindsorHOST
6:08
in that region of Africa and surrounding countries and that's what we need to do and imagine if when that Grand Prix is held there are a couple of young guys who are coming up through Formula 3 and Formula 2 from that region imagine what that would do to the race and I just hope they have the vision to be on top of that as well and Rob Wilson's number is available that is for sure um so the good news about the track it's it's been designed jointly by Tilke who's very good Herman Tilke as we know Sipang was his track Turkey was his track he's done some great great race tracks as I said when we were talking about Sipang he went off a little bit the more burn he wanted to control the layout and have the advertising hoarding here and this and that and the circuits got a bit watered down But Roar Tilker is very good now.
Peter WindsorHOST
6:56
It's his son, Carsten, doing a lot of the work there as well.
Peter WindsorHOST
7:00
In conjunction with Alexander Wurz, who's done a brilliant job over the years of building up a track design company.

Good to have you.
Peter WindsorHOST
102:33
Sounds like a Brazilian name, maybe Portuguese.

taylor says it's like these nations building super specialized soon to be abandoned olympic venues well yeah exactly you know everybody always raved about the london olympics when i was there and i have to say in my defense i was always a mate of early mate of seb co he was a neighbor and you know we used to hang out a bit and then he got close to williams and frank and we went to quite a lot of events together and stuff but when seb started going on and on about the olympics and how much it was going to bring to london I was always confused as to see how actually the money was going to come back and I think it's the same with Sydney isn't it it's a great thing everybody gets so excited about it but does it actually make money in the long run I don't know I don't think so Formula One the way Formula One is can really justify itself I mean the cool thing is this whole Qatar Rwanda thing it's a sort of Bernie thing of going to countries where they were quite happy to do a few deals under the table to get the budget through to have a Formula One race but nothing was ever really followed through as I just said in Turkey or China you know oh yeah we'll do all that stuff yeah right you know it's never going to happen we've got the race though whereas now it's sort of the Bernie thing on steroids because it's it is the money and it is properly organized and it is going to happen and it will be a good thing and you've got people like Wurtz and Tilke there and doing the track and they will it'll be a great thing And that's what should happen now.
Peter WindsorHOST
104:03
And it should all be done properly.
RachelHOST
8:09
We will be at turn 15, which is the slow kind of tricky bits in that's a little bit stadium-like, kind of modeled after Hockenheim.
RachelHOST
8:18
This is a Tilke track.
RachelHOST
8:20
This is in his rage of many, many great tracks.
RachelHOST
8:23
We also really love the S's, which are modeled after Maggots and Becketts at Silverstone.
