Here You Come Again

Dolly kept her word.

The producer of her next album, Here You Come Again, is Gary Klein, and he knew a thing or two about crossing over.

See Southern Nights by Glen Campbell, for example.

And the pop era in Dolly's career was underway.

People thought I'd made a major mistake, but if I hadn't have done that, I wouldn't have any money now." Spoken like a smart businesswoman.

Well, if you're gonna cross over, you may as well have a couple of legends write you a song.

Here You Come Again was written by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil.

You've heard their songs, On Broadway, Under the Boardwalk, uh, We've Got to Get Out of This Place by The Animals.

What

was it? What was the song? Here You Come Again was on one side.

I love it.

Me and Little Andy was on the other.

And, you know, my sister is seven years younger than I am.

And she texted me right after that.

she heard the news and she texted me, here you come again, the song.

And she said, do you remember me, that mean little Andy? And I wish I, you know, I was thinking about if I could find a picture of Katie and I just, you know,

I had been on a couple of country hits before I moved.

I played on Dolly's, the two albums she did in L.A., Here You Come Again.

And I was on Eddie Rabbit's Suspicions album.

So the few people in town knew who I was.

And that one is Two Doors Down.

Dolly wrote this song for her 1977 album Here You Come Again.

She later re-recorded it with a more pop-oriented sound, and that version became a crossover hit in 1978. reaching the country top 20 and the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100.

What I love about the story in this song is how quickly the mood changes.

She says she's been doing that since she was, like, 14 years old.

So, um, her, her, like her big album, Here, Here You Come Again-

Yeah

... which was her first crossover hit.

[upbeat music]

Here you come again.

Just when I've begun to get myself together.

You waltz right in the door.

She did it.

And my next honorable mention is from the 1977 album, Here You Come Again.

And it's written by Dolly.

And I've always loved this song.

Okay.

Wilkie?

My number two is from the Here You Come Again album in 77.

It's all wrong, but it's all right.
