During his tenure at Google, he started Google Compute Engine and helped start Kubernetes.

He then co-founded Heptio and after two years sold it to VMware.

Joe was at VMware for several years helping to create the Tanzu suite of products.

After a breakaway from the keyboard, Joe has joined the startup StackLock as their CTO.

I know one product manager, marketer guy was like, you know, right after we launched and there was a lot of excitement, was like, I know there's a unicorn in there somewhere because I see all the unicorn shit, but I don't know where it is, right? So a lot of really sort of like derisive ways of looking at this.

Yeah, I mean, we could spend the rest of the time talking about the cloud native era.

And, you know, obviously you, you know, for I'm sure everyone knows you obviously spun Kubernetes out into Heptio and had some good had some good success there.

I do want to spend the rest of the time talking a bit about your retirement.

He's at Excel.

And so ironically, I knew the board members who had all invested in the Series A, Series B of this company that Craig had started called Heptio.

And so when I got in the process, I stipulated like, hey, I live in the Bay Area, but I'm really fascinated by the orchestration wars.

And back then you had Mesosphere, you had CoreOS, and you had, of course, Kubernetes was starting to emerge, but it wasn't clear.
