This story was first published in Weird Tales back in nineteen thirty-seven, and falls firmly in the good old Lovecraft mythos.

In fact, Kuttner was a contemporary and correspondent of Lovecraft.

Abby Prinn perhaps had returned to the hell she had served, and her inhuman god had withdrawn to hidden abysses beyond man's comprehension, routed by powerful forces of elder magic which the occultist had commanded.
