thus providing an abundant source of capital for many, many things, including something else that was kind of invented in the 1970s, leveraged buyouts.

The end of the 1970s is when Jerome Kohlberg, the first K in KKR, partners with Henry Kravis and George Roberts to found KKR because the two younger co-founders have seen that what Kohlberg had been practicing in a very artisanal way at a very small scale was was a way to deploy capital in mature companies and force them to find extra productivity and to create additional value for shareholders.

Something else that was invented by then was the Bloomberg terminal.

Bloomberg launched the terminal at the end of the 1970s.

And, and that was...

I, I was heavily influenced by Henry Kravis.

So he started a, a private equity firm called KKR, uh, along with two other people.

And he went to my business school, you know, years before me.

With, uh, Turness over at Apple, there's a lot of the, the team that he's now kinda seeing their way out as they retire because they've been there for m- multiple decades now.

So in the 19, uh, 76-ish period of time, Kohlberg left Bear Stearns with two younger colleagues, Henry Kravis and George Roberts, and they hung a shingle, a company by the name of KKR.

And if you don't know private equity companies, it's a name you probably should've heard of by now.

Then three things happened almost at once that turned a niche craft cottage industry into a much, much bigger one.

She worked closely with him for several years, absorbing the intricacies of the high fashion business, couture craftsmanship, and client relations.

In 1985, following her first marriage to German businessman Axel Rohm, whom she married in 1978 and divorced in 1981, and with the financial backing and encouragement of her then-husband, Henry Kravis, Caroline Rohm launched her own high-end fashion label that bore her name.

Her designs were celebrated for their feminine silhouettes, vibrant colors, luxurious fabrics, and romantic aesthetic.

She became a fixture of the 80s fashion scene, dressing prominent society figures and Hollywood stars.

And so it becomes even more-

You know what? Henry Kravis told me once that rich men and pretty women never hear the truth.

That came from a rich man.

There's no way I'd hook up with Henry Kravis.
