Hellfire

The score uses musical leitmotifs.

Each of the central characters has a theme drawn from one of the songs: Out There for Quasimodo, God Help the Outcasts for Esmeralda, Hellfire for Frollo, and Rest & Recreation for Phoebus.

The Bells of Notre Dame acts as a recurring narrative device to tell parts of the story.

What do we think of the story and characters?

We want to, n- our lack of control and our heartbreak, we usually funnel into, you know, misguided hate or, or blaming someone, and in this case, he blamed the woman that his, his brother went off with, and because she was Romani, then he hated the Romani.

And so that hate carried over into, you know, the current, you know, where the play then picks up, which makes so much more sense to me.

Yeah, I think the difference in execution of this version of Frollo compared to the animated version is that the animated version is in many ways a typical pure evil Disney villain, who through the song Hellfire in particular, gets th- this interesting bit of like a dip into humanity that makes him feel more interesting than your average Disney villain.

This Frollo just doesn't feel like a Disney villain.
