Cyrus' surgeon giving us versions of events, which is always interesting when we compare what we get from Ctesias, Ephorus, and Diodorus in comparison to what Xenophon says.

And even Xenophon in his own Hellenica gives a different story than he does in the Anabasis, which is one of those questions.

Why don't you bring up that you wrote the Anabasis? And, you know, he's got this pseudonym character in the Hellenica.

You have to remember that at this point, Xenophon was deeply, after his career with the army, he became deeply involved in Greek politics on the Spartan side, and the Spartans were beginning to lose power.
