Helen Yaffe

It was called Fidel Venceremos.

And it was very cool that Helen Yaffe was there in the Q&A.

And there was also a diplomat from Cuba there as well who did not speak English particularly well.

But the things he did say were very powerful and interesting.

I'm gonna do a few recs.

The first is I really wanna recommend the podcast Cuba Analysis, which is hosted by Helen Yaffe, who is a world-renowned Cuba expert, an Irish academic, but she works in Scotland, I believe.

She recently had an episode with Professor Isaac Saney, S-A-N-E-Y, on, and they just unpacked the Cuba report that we had mentioned earlier.

Um, and they do, you know, an hour and a half, two-hour long discourse analysis of this document.

It's pretty interesting.

Um, and speaking of that author, Helen Yaffe, she has a fantastic book that I cannot recommend enough called We Are Cuba: How a Revolutionary People Have Survived in a Post-Soviet World.

So just briefly, um, you know, Cuba, it did have a, um, somewhat fraught relationship with the Soviet Union, but the bottom line is the Soviet Union was their biggest trading partner.

You know, they're under severe blockade, sanctions from the US, and so was the Soviet Union.
